Veterinary Practice Sales
Selling your practice can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. When you work with us, we’ll make sure you understand the process start to finish, walk you through the steps and make the process as easy and efficient as possible.
An Efficient & Culture-Focused Process
- We’ll start by doing our own valuation which will be done the same way as the corporate buyers do theirs.
This is essential for two reasons:
First, it sets a realistic expectation for what your practice is worth.
Second, we uncover the key questions and details buyers will want to know BEFORE sending your information to them. This one crucial step, which other brokers do not take, saves a significant amount of time for everyone involved in the transaction and ensures you get the best offer possible from buyers.
- Once we complete our valuation and answer all questions that came from the analysis, we’ll combine all your information together and prepare a package for the buyers you’d like to get offers from. At this point, we do things differently than most other brokers. Instead of sending your information to 15+ different groups, We’ll select the top 5-7 best buyers based on matching the characteristics of your practice and the criteria of practices that each buyer is looking for. Filtering out buyers up front based on criteria such as location, preferred sale structure and other criteria saves time for everyone. It also makes your decision easier by providing you a select group of buyers that will already be a good match for you. Then, all you have to do is decide which one will be the best fit. This is where our culture-focused process kicks in. We will facilitate multiple conversations with each buyer to ensure you understand what they bring to the table, how they operate, what changes after a sale, how they will support you and ultimately if they are a good fit for your practice. This is essential to ensuring your practice continues to succeed after the sale.
- Once we get offers in, we’ll evaluate them together with your legal counsel to see which one offers the best price and terms. This is also when we’ll negotiate certain aspects of the deal. Once you have the right fit, pricing and terms you’ll accept the offer and move on to the closing process. It is here where having a dedicated and efficient legal counsel is critical to closing in a timely manner.
- After closing, it’s time to celebrate the payoff of all your hard work!
We are proud to serve our clients with excellence and efficiency. Our goal is to provide the best experience possible for our clients.
Zach gave me and my veterinary clinic individual attention. He helped me to present my clinic in an efficient manner to several corporate partners and then helped set up interviews and compare them. We decided what fit I wanted and received several LOI’s which Zach then helped me renegotiate to come to the best offer from my preferred corporate partner. All done in a speedy manner of 2 months. I am very happy with the stellar service and attention Legacy Veterinary Advisers gave me.
It was a pleasure to work with Zach at Legacy Vet Advisors. He goes the extra mile to put a polish on your practice to present it to its fullest potential for prospective buyers. He listened to our needs and put us in front of like-minded buyers so we could feel comfortable with moving forward with our sale.
Zach was instrumental in helping me evaluate, market, and eventually sell my veterinary practice. Zach was very thorough and honest in my practice evaluation and based on my practice culture, facilitated meetings with like-minded groups. I feel confident that these introductions allowed me to partner with the best possible group that would take care of my staff and continue the practice legacy.”
